Miroslav Baloga

I have acquired elementary musical education from my father and at Elementary Music School in Krompachy from M. Rothmajer. I have joined a Folklore Group Pridaň in Víťaz as 9 years old.

Later in 1992-1998 I was studying at Žilina Conservatory in class of Mgr. art. Ján Glasnák and Mgr. art. Anton Pohančeník. After graduation I have studied at Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica. My teacher was a renowned Professor Jiří Kratochvíl from Brno, member and founder of the famous Janáček Quartet.

In 2002-2006 I was the 1st violist in State Opera in Banská Bystrica and as a teacher at local Conservatory. As an instrumentalist I am close to classical music, but also other genres such as folklore, country, jazz or world music.

In the past I was a member or featured in numerous musical bodies, such as Musica Iuventa Slovaca, Musica Florea, KKO – Čadca, Etnobeat band Družina, ĽH from Víťaz or Jánošík band from Svit (I have performed in Slovak Representation House at 5 Olympic Games between 2000 and 2010). As a performer I have travelled a great deal of the world thanks to the music.

Currently I am the 1st violist in State Chamber Orchestra in Žilina and a teacher in Žilina Conservatory.

I play intruments made by violin masters Branislav Kováčik and Lubomír Slavkovský
